About Steve Hawrishok
Stephen Hawrishok was born in Carrot River, Saskatchewan in 1946. The third eldest of six and first-born son of Stephen and Cora Hawrishok, Steve spent much of his formative years collecting beer bottles, being farmed out, and, of course, in the poolroom that was just four steps down from the family’s living room.
Sonny Poolroom is a memoir of life spent growing up in Lac Vert, a small town in North-Central Saskatchewan during the 1950s and 60s. It’s a collection of memories of events and Steve’s reaction to them.
If you lived in a prairie town during those years, you may have had many of these experiences as well, or knew someone who did.
Steve and his wife Laurie currently split their time between Regina and Mexico’s Costalegre. They share three wonderful children and four even better grandchildren.
